A Message from our Head of School
Dear GWUOHS Families,
We’re excited to announce that a group of students and teachers from GWUOHS are traveling on an educational tour to Venice, Florence and Rome during Spring Break 2017. At one time or another, each of these cities was among the most important in the world. Venice was a major naval power, and it still has a firm grip on the world’s romantic imagination. Florence was the birthplace of the Renaissance, and that artistic tradition still thrives. In Rome, majestic sights like the Coliseum recall its long imperial reign.
If you would like to learn more about this exciting opportunity, join us for an information session on Friday, January 8th at 11 am EST (see link on Class Connect calendar). You can also visit our tour website HERE
Stuff your eyes with wonder, live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. – Ray Bradbury
We are so proud of GWUOHS junior Annabel Annuziata who has just launched her own online fashion and home furnishings business called beautyatitsfinest.com. She launched in the US late November and in her native, Canada Dec 1, 2015. Annabel said she approached her parents about an online business when she was 14, but had to do all the research and planning to prove she was ready to take on such a big responsibility. To prove her dedication, she contacted wholesalers who drop ship to supply her products and fulfill orders and then hired a website designer to help bring her vision to life. She is planning on attending university for marketing and e-commerce.

We are thrilled that so many of you are starting to receive your college acceptance letters! As you receive admission decision letters, please remember to update your status in Family Connections to ‘Accepted’, ‘Denied’ or ‘Waitlisted’. This is extremely important as we maintain our records on college admissions.
For those who are still completing admissions applications, remember that you must submit all materials and link your Common App and Family Connections accounts at least two weeks prior to the application deadline. We cannot guarantee that school materials will arrive on time, if you do not adhere to this request. Further, official transcripts must be request via eScript Safe. Please follow the instructions provided in your Journeys Symposium class.
Finally if you are awarded any scholarships or awards, please notify Dr. Kimmons via k-mail. Students receiving scholarships/ awards will be recognized at our commencement ceremony in June.
The following is a listing of the institutions to which GWUOHS graduates have been accepted from 2012 – 2015. Click here to see a PDF version of the list of college acceptances.
There is a good reason they call these ceremonies ‘ commencement exercises’. Graduation is not the end; it’s the beginning.
We have had a few students inquire about completing final exams early. Please see the policy and procedures for requesting early completion of final exams below:
In some instances, students may need to complete final exams early due to illness, pre-arranged travel, or other special circumstances. In such cases, students will need to submit a formal, written request to his/ her advisor no later than two weeks prior to the start of final exams. These requests will be reviewed and subsequently approved or denied by the GWUOHS Leadership Team.
Please note: Once a student has accessed the final exams, they will not have the ability to complete or submit any assignments or assessments for the course.
